Cap de l’Homy ⋆⋆⋆ Municipal campsite

400 metres from the sandy shores of the Atlantic Ocean, the Municipal Campsite of Cap de l’Homy welcomes you.

If you haven’t yet stayed on our campsite, you’ll be tempted, first and foremost, by the natural surroundings and proximity to the beach. You’ll come back for the same reasons… and also because you’ll feel so at home.

The campsite has managed to keep intact its original characteristics since opening in 1960: tranquillity, authenticity and a natural setting by the sea. A privileged environment which has largely contributed to its success…

Do you dream of pitching your tent on top of a shady sand dune or setting up your caravan on the edge of the pine forest? Your wish will be granted. Our pitches are unique and, for the most part, follow the natural landforms, which may mean you will have to park your car below the pitch if this is on a sand dune, or position your caravan differently in order to fit it among the trees.

The pine trees will return the favour by enabling you to tie up your hammock and spend unforgettable nights under the starry sky!

In order to contend with these natural obstacles, it is very important you fill in your booking request as precisely as possible!

Why come to Cap de l’Homy?

We are practically on the seashore, just behind the dunes (difficult to get any closer to the sea other than camping on a boat😉). You can’t actually see the sea from the campsite, but the dunes do protect us from the sea spray, and we are the only local campsite by the seaside with direct access to the beach!

We could have been called « Camping de la Plage » but for our faithful customers we will always be « Cap de l’Homy Campsite»! And just to make things clear, don’t expect a headland or other rocky outcrop. « Cap de L’Homy in the Gascon dialect means « man’s head» and is simply the name of this magnificent beach of golden sand you will reach via our superb wooden walkway.

Above all, tranquillity!

If you are looking for a campsite with entertainment, loud speakers and aqua-gym, look elsewhere. Cap de l’Homy is a traditional campsite: no swimming pool (too noisy) but a ‘boules’ contest every Monday afternoon and beach-volley every Thursday afternoon between July 14th and August 15th .

Every evening at 10pm, our campers all play our trademark game of « the king of silence »… absolute calm descends. We ask our campers to respect their neighbours and the noise ‘curfew’ from 10pm onwards: no motor vehicles, no loud conversations or any other noisy activities which may annoy the occupants of the neighbouring pitches.

But, after all, it is the holidays!

For those of you who wish to have fun a little later than 10pm, don’t panic, there are a couple of restaurants 200m down the road and, in July and August, every Wednesday and Saturday, you can join in the barbecue evenings Cap de l’Homy is famous for, where local associations take it in turn to organize food and entertainment open to all. This way you can have fun while contributing indirectly to the quality of our village life.

Proximity!

Our peculiarities are part of our success but may make it difficult for you to obtain a pitch in the high season. Have a look at our ‘practical information’ page to get more detail and booking advice. You can contact us all year round as 3 of us are permanent staff: 2 in the office: Frédérique (Campsite Manager) and Elise (Deputy Manager) as well as Guillaume, our chief technical officer on the ground. In season, there are 20 of us.

If you need any further information, contact us, preferably by email, and we will always be happy to respond (no chatbots at Cap de l’Homy).

We hope to welcome you very soon to our little piece of Landaise Paradise!

Since the campsite is situated in the pinewoods, open fires (wood barbecues, candles, etc.) are strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
